Short version: Antenna IPTV has no account, no ads, no tracking and no servers of ours. The developer does not receive your playlists, logins or viewing history from the app. From version 1.0.2, an anonymous usage count and tips are recorded with RevenueCat (see below). The app does connect to the sources you configure, and those servers receive the requests described below.
What is stored on your device
- Playlists: the name, the address (URL) or imported file, the optional guide address, the optional username and any custom User-Agent you set. If you put a username or password inside a playlist address (for example
?username=…&password=…), it is stored with that address. - Passwords typed in the “Private playlist” section are stored in the Apple Keychain on your device, not in the playlist file.
- Library data: channels read from your playlists, favorites, recent channels, guide data and your app settings (including language and safety limits).
- Playlist and settings files are protected by your device’s file protection and, like other app data, may be included in your device backups according to your Apple settings. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Antenna IPTV hides passwords, tokens and similar values from addresses on screen, in error messages and in logs. It does not change the addresses you saved.
What the app connects to
Antenna IPTV contacts only addresses that you add or that your own playlists contain: the playlist URL, the guide (XMLTV) URL, the stream addresses inside your playlists, and the channel logos they reference. Those servers belong to third parties. Each request can reveal to them:
- your IP address and the time of the request;
- the address you request and the standard technical headers of the request, including the User-Agent (by default
Antenna/0.1, which you can change in Settings); - if you entered a username and password for a playlist, they are sent to that playlist’s own server using HTTP Basic authentication — encrypted only when the address starts with https://. The app warns you when you use a login with an http:// address. Your login is not forwarded to other hosts, including after a redirect, and the app stops redirects from https to http when a login is attached;
- for streams that use an
http://address, the traffic is not encrypted.
What those servers do with that information is governed by their own policies, not ours.
Sending to a TV (Chromecast, smart TVs)
When the player is open, Antenna IPTV looks for Chromecast devices and DLNA/UPnP smart TVs on your local network (iOS asks for “Local Network” permission first; you can turn it off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network). Device names are only shown to you and are not stored or sent anywhere. If you choose a TV, the app sends it the channel you are watching through your local network: the TV then plays that stream, and the stream’s server may see your TV’s or router’s IP address. Nothing is sent to the developer.
What is sent to the developer
From version 1.0.2, Antenna IPTV uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), a service for in-app purchases. Each time the app opens it contacts RevenueCat with a random identifier created on your device, plus technical data needed to process purchases: app version, device model, operating system, language, App Store country and the IP address of the request. If you leave a tip, RevenueCat also receives the purchase details from Apple (product, price, currency and date). The developer sees this in RevenueCat’s dashboard to know how many people use the app and when a tip is made. It is not linked to your name, Apple ID or email address, is not used for advertising, and is not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. It never includes your playlists, logins or what you watch. RevenueCat processes this data on the developer’s behalf; see RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Apart from that, nothing is sent from the app to the developer. The app contains no advertising or crash-reporting software of ours. You can reach the developer only by the contact options on the support page; anything you post there (for example a GitHub issue) is visible to others, so please do not include playlist addresses, usernames or passwords.
Apple, which runs the App Store, may give developers aggregated and anonymous statistics (such as downloads) and, if you opt in, crash information shared with developers. That data is collected by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy.
Third-party components
Playback uses Apple’s media framework (AVFoundation) and the open-source VLC engine (VLCKit). They connect to the stream addresses you provide. VLCKit contains optional network features that Antenna IPTV does not use; we have not independently audited every network request made by third-party components, so we do not claim that they make none beyond your sources.
Tips
The app is free and has no ads. If you leave an optional tip, the payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, payment details or other personal data. Apple’s privacy policy applies to that purchase.
Content
Antenna IPTV is a player. It includes no channels and never suggests any. You are responsible for loading only content you are entitled to watch.
Children
The app does not collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
